TeacherCPD.ie have developed a free comprehensive one hour course based on online learning. This course focuses on how to get started teaching online, finding suitable resources & how to use them (inc. Scoilnet, Webwise & World Book online), engaging with students & creating your own digital content.

Kahoot!

Kahoot is an online quiz tool which is usually used in the classroom. Teachers display multiple choice questions on their board and students respond by pressing the corresponding answer on their device individually or as part of a team.
To allow for home learning, Kahoot has now added a self-paced learning option which allows teachers to create a quiz and share it with students via Seesaw, Google Classroom, email etc so that students can see the questions on their devices and answer questions in their own time. This is an asynchronous activity (not live).
Create your quiz or choose/edit a premade one, press play and choose Assign, then complete the settings page and copy and paste the link that appears on the next screen into whatever you use to communicate with students.
Teachers can also now avail of Kahoot Premium FREE for the duration of school closures. This usually costs €72 per year!

Screencastify is a super tool for making screencasts which could be used to make tutorials on different digital tools or to record yourself explaining work being set or reading a book to students etc.
You can sign up for Screencastify by visiting the above link. It usually costs €29 per year to make unlimited videos that are longer than 5 minutes. You can now get Screencastify for free by choosing the Unlimited plan and entering the code CAST_COVID as a coupon.
You use the Screencastify Chrome Extension to make your videos and they save directly to Google Drive or your computer and can be shared by link, email etc. Suitable for laptops/desktops/Chromebooks, not tablet friendly.
